DIRECT DIGITAL DEMOCRACY (DDD)

Direct Digital Democracy (DDD) supports and encourages the development of direct citizen voting in the United States through computer technology. We believe that the Constitution of the United States was initially developed with the intent to allowing the citizenry to govern themselves. Instead we have a large, very powerful and expensive governmental structure and a disempowered populace. DDD can change this forever.

A SMALL OVERHAUL OF THE US GOVERNMENT

DR. KOMOR'S PATRIOTIC USA GOVERNMENTAL-OVERHAUL FOR PATROITS The

National situation for the United States and the international environment of the 21st Century is extremely complex and interconnected in ways it would take a lifetime to understand. Religion, politics, economics and psychology are all at play in a constantly shifting mosaic against a backdrop of distrust and smoldering rivalries. Emerging markets, intense poverty and unequal distribution of resources all add to the tension and complexity. Below I present my hopelessly simple and totally unrealistic plan for revamping the US Government. Sure it can't really happen, but at least when someone says, "Do you think you could do better?" I can honestly say, "Well, may not, but I do have a plan!"

(1) In some fashion restore a relatively "free press" - perhaps by limiting or restructuring in some fashion the economic flow into and out of the organization and prohibiting ownership of more than one media venue by the same entity.
(2) Place the Supreme Court on the ballot of general elections every four years.
(3) Establish term limits for all legislatures of one period of service of eight years with comparable benefits (e.g. a cap of 16 years of retirement and insurance).
(4) Prohibit any elected official from receiving any funds in any form other than:
(A) A set amount of pre-paid (from the general tax fund) campaign advertisements.
(B) A set campaign fund.
(C) A set salary while in office.
(5) Make no change in the military other than
(A) Reducing waste
(B) Placing limits on government contracts to the private sector which would make such contracting sustainable but not lucrative.
(6) Eliminate political parties replacing them with direct voting via computer
(7) Eliminate the Senate
(8) Eliminate the Electoral College
(9) Require all Congresspersons to place all initiatives on their web site so that constituents could vote on those issues weekly. These votes would, in effect, direct the actions of the Congressperson. (This would allow us to have our "best minds" representing us and developing ideas and debating them, but control the ultimate vote by majority rule. Require legislators to be present every Friday when votes would be taken.
(10) Eliminate the office of President [shit will Carnivore see those two words in the same sentence and send a CIA black ops team to my house?] and reduce the Executive Branch to managerial functions only as directed by Congress.
(11) Develop a National Unified Legal System with a unified code of justice enforced in all States.
(12) Reduce States to Regions based on geographic needs.
(13) Develop National Entrance Criteria for immigration including language proficiency, background checks, oath, probationary period, etc.
(14) Require Regional Governments to fund public schools equal to the combined budgets of it's Law Enforcement and Correctional agencies. Remove all public funding for private schools. Require all public and private schools to provide mandatory coursework in parenting skills, citizenship skills, social skills, and moral development.
(15) Strengthen the Constitutional separation of Church and State.
(16) Adopt the healthcare and retirement system currently in place in Switzerland and stop trying to re-invent the wheel.
